ERP and shipping as one process

Use Odoo data directly for operational shipping processing.

Odoo connects sales, warehousing, purchasing, and accounting. The shipping integration complements this process chain with carrier selection, label creation, tracking, and international shipping documents.

01 SO

From sales order to delivery order

Confirmed sales orders in Odoo generate the corresponding inventory movement. The integration is based on the specific delivery order, not on a separate address list.

02 RATE

Shipping decision based on real data

Weight, dimensions, destination address, type of goods and desired transit time form the basis for carrier and tariff selection.

03 TRK

Tracking remains an integral part of the ERP process.

The tracking number and tracking link are not isolated in a separate portal, but are assigned to the delivery order in Odoo.

No parallel shipping worlds

Why Odoo processes are slowed down by external carrier portals

If your team exports delivery data from Odoo, generates shipping labels in multiple portals, and then manually enters tracking numbers back, the ERP loses its function as the leading system.

International Package connects Odoo with a central shipping platform and enables individual processes via the Shipping API .

1
No duplicate address entry Recipient and delivery data are taken from the existing Odoo data record.
2
No isolated carrier conditions Available services are compared within a central shipping process.
3
No tracking number without a delivery order Each tracking number remains linked to the specific Odoo picking and the packages sent.
4
No export documents from subsidiary lists Goods, value and customs data are transferred from defined Odoo fields into the shipping case.
Integration functions

What the Odoo shipping interface handles in day-to-day business

The exact range of functions will be tailored to the Odoo version, hosting model, installed apps, warehouse processes and international shipping cases.

Selectively retrieve delivery orders

Only approved or ready-to-ship pickings will be included in the shipping process.

Assign packages and quantities

Product quantities, package data and, if applicable, lot or serial numbers remain assigned to the correct delivery order.

Calculate shipping rates

Carrier, service, price and transit time are determined based on the specific recipient and package data.

Generate shipping label

The label is created via the International package and can be provided to the Odoo record or the Chatter.

Use customs and invoice data

For shipments to third countries, the value of the goods, origin, customs tariff number and invoice information can be included in the documents.

Tracking and status report

Tracking reference, tracking link, carrier and shipping status are returned to the associated delivery order.

Tailored to Odoo processes

Sales order, delivery and package are different objects

A robust integration is based not only on the order, but also on the actual warehousing and delivery logic of your Odoo installation.

SALE

Sales order as a commercial starting point

The sales order contains the customer, items, prices, and delivery terms. Only the stock movement reflects the operational shipment.

PICK

Delivery Order as a shipping item

The delivery order contains the actual warehousing and delivery process. Carriers, packages, and tracking information are meaningfully integrated here.

PACK

Packages for multi-package and partial deliveries

In the case of multiple packages or partial shipments, it must remain traceable which products were sent in which package.

From Odoo picking to tracking

This is how the Odoo shipping integration works

The process connects warehouse, carrier, documents and tracking without interrupting the Odoo workflow with manual side processes.

01

Setting up Odoo access

API access, permissions, data models and relevant apps are coordinated for integration.

02

Accept delivery order

Recipient, item, quantity, package and goods information is read from the ready-to-ship picking.

03

Select shipping service

Paket International compares available carriers and services for the specific shipping case.

04

Create labels and documents

Shipping labels and available invoice and export documents are generated automatically.

05

Update Odoo

Tracking reference, carrier, package status and documents are reassigned to the delivery order.

JSON-2 API, RPC and Webhooks

Technical integration compatible with the Odoo version used

Odoo 19 introduces the External JSON-2 API as a modern external interface. Existing XML-RPC and JSON-RPC endpoints remain widely used, but according to Odoo, they are slated for replacement in later versions.

The API used depends on the version, hosting model, and available modules. Additionally, Odoo automations and webhooks can be used to trigger external events in the database or to extend processes based on events.

Version-dependent architecture: For new Odoo 19 projects, the JSON-2 API should be tested. Existing installations can continue to use RPC-based integrations. Therefore, the interface will not be implemented generically, but rather tailored to your specific production Odoo instance.
Suitable Odoo environments

Who would benefit from the Odoo shipping interface?

The integration is particularly relevant for companies that use Odoo as their leading ERP system and do not want to manage shipping outside of the system.

Odoo-powered online shops

For companies that operate Odoo eCommerce, sales and warehousing in one system.

Manufacturers and spare parts suppliers

For businesses with complex product data, serial numbers, different package types, and international customers.

Multi-warehouse companies

For organizations with multiple warehouses, picking routes, and differentiated delivery processes.

Odoo partners and integrators

For implementation partners who want to integrate international shipping logic into individual Odoo projects.

FAQ

Questions about the Odoo shipping interface

The technical implementation depends on the Odoo version, hosting model, installed modules, warehouse process and desired level of automation.

Which Odoo data records are used for shipping?

Typically, sales orders, delivery orders, recipient addresses, product data, package information, and tracking fields are used. The exact scope is defined on a project-specific basis.

Can the interface provide shipping rates in Odoo?

Yes. Odoo supports delivery methods and the calculation of shipping costs. Paket International can determine available carriers and services based on the specific shipment data.

Are shipping labels generated automatically?

Yes. After selecting or automatically determining the shipping service, the label can be generated via Paket International and made available to the Odoo delivery order.

Can the tracking number be saved in Odoo?

Yes. Odoo has a tracking reference for the delivery order and can provide a tracking link to the shipping provider.

Does the integration support multiple packages per delivery?

Yes. Odoo can organize products into packages. The specific multi-package logic is tailored to your warehouse and carrier processes.

Can lot and serial numbers be taken into account?

Yes. If traceability is enabled in Odoo, lot and serial numbers can be part of the delivery and document logic.

Which API is used for the Odoo integration?

Odoo 19 supports the External JSON-2 API. Existing installations often use XML-RPC or JSON-RPC. The choice depends on the version and architecture.

Can webhooks and automations be used?

Yes. Odoo Studio supports webhooks and automated actions. Whether these features are used depends on the hosting model and integration design.

Can international customs documents be created?

Yes. Depending on the shipping case, commercial or pro forma invoices and other export documents can be prepared from existing goods, value, origin and customs tariff information.

Does the connection work with Odoo Online, Odoo.sh and On-Premise?

In principle, different operating models are possible. However, access rights, custom modules, and available API functions differ. Therefore, the specific environment is technically reviewed before implementation.
